[3] Grid Computing: France holds a new computing world record - June 30, 2005

"...INRIA Sophia Antipolis researchers are the first ones in the world to have computed the number of ways of placing 25 queens on a 25 x 25 chessboard so that they do not check each other. This number is equal to 2,207,893,435,808,352. The previous record - the number of placements for 24 queens on a 24 x 24 chessboard - was held by a Japanese. The computation was performed on a desktop PC grid at INRIA Sophia Antipolis..."
